I remember the first time my oldest daughter slept 6 hours at one shot during the night. I woke up in a panic, and had to check to see if she was still breathing.
Unpacking moving boxes is worse than packing them. When you unpack, you find things that make you say, "Why the heck did I pack this in the first place?!?" And you always find crap other than what you’re searching in all the boxes for, even if you do write on the outside of them what’s contained inside…
Yesterday morning, I watched a hot air balloon land in the employee parking lot at work.
I use my mom’s tactic whenever the kids say they’re bored… “Ok, if you’re bored, go clean your room.” “I have some weeding that needs done in the flower bed.” “How would you like to go mow the lawn?” They quickly learn not to whine to me about being bored.
I wish I was independently wealthy so I could travel anywhere in the world, whenever I wanted.
On Saturday, I attended a Utah Blogger Lunch hosted by
Kristina. (Thanks, Kristina!) It was a lot of fun meeting new bloggers. I did get to see an old friend,
Jen at Steenky Bee. Her hair preceded her up the stairs. It was awesomesauce!
And somewhere in the neighborhood of 3am tonight (tomorrow morning?), we're headed out to sunny southern California to get Disney-fied. See you next week!

Oh i know the unpacking nightmare.. i still have an unpacked box of nothings in the basement..and i moved in here 5 mnths now.. so you tell me who's worse:P
Have fun in California!
fellow random girl myself
I have unpacked boxes in my garage that are over 10 years old. I think I win!
When are you bloggers planning to visit Atlanta?
OOH - I'd forgotten that gem of a mommy trick! Will have to use it next time the whinging starts - which could be any tome now.
Enjoy the Diz!
Have a safe trip and enjoy each moment to the fullest.
Hey! You're headed out MY way! Well, sort of. West L.A. is still a trek from the OC...
That is one early morning! enjoy!!!
Have a great time at Disney world.
Packed and unpacked two years in a row. Said the same thing each time. You think I would have learned. :)
Have fun in CA!
Hey, have a great time at Disney! I haven't been there since I was about 10 - back in '67. Damn, I'm old...
Well now I'm sad I didn't attend the lunch... oh well, next time! Have fun in Disneyland!
Everything about moving is horrible. Have fun at Disneyland.
Moving is hard work! Now go have fun with the mouse.
It was so fun to meet you! You are delightful! I told Amber we need to do lunch.
The same thing happens to me when I am just looking for something. I always find everything else I have ever looked for.
Have a great trip and give the mouse a hug for me.
i still check my two year old's breathing, every night.
My dad was good at the whole,"I'm bored" thing, he would find the longest, hardest projects to keep us busy! I know what you mean about packing and unpacking, I hate moving!!!!!
ohmygod! you should throw those 10 y.o. packed boxes away without even looking inside. when i was pregnant with oscar, i did this with about five boxes that'd were still packed after two years. it was liberating.
I also check my kids breathing..... sometimes I think I'm a moron, or overly protective... then I read blogs like yours and realize I'm not alone and perfectly normal :)
Happy RTT!!
I wish I was independently wealthy so I could travel anywhere in the world, whenever I wanted.
ME TOO!!!!!!
and, awesomesauce....love that :o)
unpacking sucks. we don't do it. there are boxes that we packed up after law school. they moved with us from our first apartment in NJ to our house and 3 years later, they STILL are boxed up. i really just want to toss the damn things but one day hubby might need a piece of paper from one of those boxes
Yup, unpacking bites. I still haven't unpacked three boxes that are still sitting in the garage in the same section. We've cleaned out the garage 4 times since we moved in, but always AROUND that section.
What a great cure for boredom!
ugh, don't even talk about unpacking. I have been in the new house for 3.2 wks now and I felt like I made great progress the first week, but now there's so much to do with upkeeping the house itself, plus painting, plus rearranging things, plus going to work every day, plus making dinner, etc etc--I feel whatever wasn't unpacked in the first weekend will never be seen again.
I saw a Taco Bell land in the Taco Bell parking lot nearby one time and nearly crashed in my ultimate curiousity.
Why would your kids be bored? Where are their video games?? :)
Have a great trip!!!!
Oh yeah!!! You are coming to my hood! And be warned, it's not so sunny here right now. Well...right this minute it is but it's been gloomy and all June-y the past few weeks.
Enjoy DLand. We might go on Friday night or Sunday depending on my health. The flu mixed with Mickey and rides isn't a fun idea for an afternoon.
Enjoy your trip!
I bet the hot air balloon was an awesome sight! And, don't even get me started on putting things where they belong!!!
I have piles of boxes in the attic that have been untouched for years...I'm going to have to face the music one of these days and purge some of them, so when we move the next time we don't have to move 300+ boxes of miscellaneous crap... ;)
Did you take pictures of the hot air balloon landing in the parking lot??
Oh man! I totally forgot about the bored kids tactic - my parents used that on us all the time...thanks for the reminder, it's going to come in handy when the Princess Nagger starts in with her 'I'm bored!' mode! :)
Have fun on your trip! We're heading out to Louisiana a week from Thursday...not nearly as exciting as going to Disney, though... :)
Happy RTT! :)
I think more than none of us relate to your randomness...except perhaps for the hot air balloon landing!
That first stretch of sleep was amazing and terrifying. Have fun at Disney!
It was fun to semi-meet you on Saturday. I never made it over to the other table to mingle.
My kids are complaining of "boredness" as well. Last week I told them I was happy to take them to a small village in India or Africa, drop them off for a week and then chat with them about boredom after I picked them up. I'm so mean :0)
Have fun in Disneyland!
Luckeeeee! I wanna go somewhere fun! I'm so bummed I couldn't make the lunch! We for sure need to get together with Kristina for a do-over!
Love the randomness! Have fun!!!
What great randomness.
I am with you on the entire moving thing. I barely got the kitchen unpacked before I got sick and have either been at work or in bed since we moved. Bless my husband who has been trying to get the house in order. He has yet to find my bathroom rugs, some day maybe.
hope you are enjoying disney and all the fun-hangovers disney is capable of bringing!
i wish i could have seen that hooker hair! ;-)
hope you have a super fun time on your trip! Be safe:O)
