Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

My kids used to love to eat broccoli when they were little-- it wasn't until they were older that they learned the true name of the veggie they loved... up until then, they only knew it as "baby trees".

The correct way to hang toilet paper on the roller is with the paper coming OVER the top.

My work wants to turn me into a popsicle. Why on earth do they need to run the air conditioning at 65 freaking degrees??? I’m colder in the summer than I am in the winter.

I lived in a small town in Nevada that had a yearly "Cantaloupe Festival", complete with cantaloupe ice cream and a cantaloupe eating contest. However, it seems that the economy has proven to be near fatal with the festival continuing this year: Festival in Limbo This is bad news, folks…if you’ve ever lived in a small town, you understand the implications of canceling a festival of this magnitude. It’s one of the highlights of the year out in the middle of Nevada! How will people go on?

As a child, I used to be so confused when my parents would talk about how fast time came and went. How fast we were growing up. From my perspective, it was taking FOREVER to get big. Now that I'm a parent, I understand all too well how quickly time flies by. And it seems to get faster every year!

OHMYGOD!!! The toilet paper thing! This is one of my biggest pet peeves in the WORLD and I'm glad to know yours is on the dispenser the correct way. :)

Time does fly even though I'm not a parent. I'm sure it will be worse should we ever decide to have kids. **sigh**

Our company gets a little cheap on a/c, but they're afraid we'll all freeze to death in Georgia. During the winter months, entering the office is like opening a blast furnace.

And I'm with you on the tp.

Faster and faster the older you get. "Enjoy each day to its fullest" is so true!

Oh yes! I hate that too. Going shopping in summer, wearing cotton and find the stores are icy...to think I used to complain that we here in England were behind the times vis a vis air-conditioning. not good for the planet either.

I wrote a post about the old tempus fugiting far too quickly.

Stupid economy! It ruins everything!

a/c tell them they could save 500.00 a year by running it at 70. it doesn't have to be a real number.
The TP if it's on the roll? i'm happy.
The festival will also ruin the tourism, no one will come for no festival. :(

Canteloupe ice cream? Thank you, but no.

I am a TP nazi in my house, but ours goes under.

I'm with you on the TP thing, the air conditioning and time flying. I'm impressed your kids ate broccoli so early on. I think we all need to slow down a bit and enjoy our lives instead of soldiering on throughout our days in an effort to meet neverending goals. How's that for philosophical this morning?

Reminds me of calling them flowers and trees, for the clubs and spades.

The talk of canteloupe has my mouth watering. Oy! Need some fruit!
Sprite calls broccoli green trees right now, and cauliflower is white flowers, although she thinks it's broccoli. Meh. She can take it up with therapy in her teens because I'm keeping her healthy enough to GET HER THERE.

I am SO with you on the TP!

LOL...loved the TP thought
fantastic RTT!!!

I agree 100%. TP goes over the top. I love the thought of baby trees. I will be thinking that next time I eat broccoli.

Baby trees...love it.

And the toilet paper, RIGHT ON. In fact, if I'm at somebody's house, I will change it if it's going under.

Great randomness!

my condolences for your canteloupers.

my kids know broccoli as spiderman food.

I don't understand why people would ever put their tp in the "under" position. Except to deviate kittens from unrolling the entire roll.

Yes, every year does get faster.

'baby trees' so cute!

Did you know that the toilet paper 'over the top' is the feminine way and from the bottom is the masculine?

This office here is usually 10 degrees colder than the rest of the office. While we are pulling on sweaters, the guys in the back are turning on their personal fans. What gives??

Thanks for stopping by.

I used to know a woman that would go ballistic if the toilet paper was on upside down! Notice I said, "used to know" LOL!

Great random thoughts!! I totally agree about the toilet papaer and my kids used to call broccoli "trees" too!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! BTW, I won the ice cream by signing up at http://www.fromdatestodiapers.com/2009/06/blue-bunny-ice-cream.html. There's still more chances to sign up -- good luck if you do!!

I'm not sure what it is about libraries but they keep the temp at just under blood freezing temps. Something about it being better for the books. Yeah right!

My wife does it under. I don't get it. Arrrrrrrgh!!!!

I so agree about time flying - I was just thinking this the other day.

But you are absolutely incorrect about the toilet paper. Under, always under.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the work AC being cold. I bring my winter sweaters to work in the summer. Sometimes I wrap a fleece hoodie over my legs. Why must they torture us??

You're right about the toilet paper, that's for sure. I tried the baby trees trick and Graham won't fall for it. The only veggies he'll eat are cucumbers and tomatoes but it's something. I know, technically tomatoes are a fruit but whatever.

Baby Trees - ha! That's exactly what we called them when we were kids!

And sure, I'd love more dream interpretation. Just don't inform my Mom about the outcome.

We used to call them baby trees, too!!! And amen on the tp roll! And I'm probably the one who keeps the temp set so low ... and yes, time goes faster as we go. I've heard of the ripple-shock of small-town cancellations of festivals.

Oh, you're one of those people. Those toilet paper people who have grand ideas about which way the tp should be on the roll. Do you know my husband? I'm sure you must have met him at the last 'TP goes OVER' rally.

And to answer your question, I suspect O, who is 18 months, had a lot to with the holder in the dishwasher.

The toilet paper thing is funny. If I put a roll on the opposite way my little ocd 7 yr old always changes it. It makes me laugh every time!

Lifeofkaylen said...

How can people sleep at night with their TP not on correctly??? It is made to go over!!! It rolls correctly, it looks correct, it IS CORRECT!!!!

And my beautiful bouncing baby boy is now this man-creature of 16yrs old. Time flies at mach speeds once you become a parent!

Do you work with me? It is VERY cold in the summer!!!

Festivals are very important, but more so in small towns. There's nothing else to look forward to!!

Princess Nagger used to eat broccoli without protest when she was younger...until she saw Camp Lazlo (a cartoon) that depicted them as mini trees...after that she refused to eat them because of them reminding her of mini trees! LOL!!

AMEN to the correct 'position' of the toilet paper...

I'm surprised your work hasn't followed the trend to 'go green' by cutting out the use of a/c even on the hottest days...seems a lot of places around here are doing that - 65 is too cold, but man I wanna cool off inside a building not roast to death when they keep it at 80 and above! ;)

Canceling a festival in a small town is definitely tragic... :)

Happy RTT a couple of days late! :)

Completely agree with the toilet paper thing...my father in law likes it the other way...drives me nuts because your constantly searching for the end of the toilet paper that way!
