Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

I've been really sick since Friday. As in, I-swear-I've-only-got-half-a-lung-left-as-I've-coughed-up-the-rest-of-it kind of sick. So the only random thoughts I have today are sick ones. (No, not that sort of sick ones.)(Sicko.)

I don't know about you, but I really hate sick dreams. They're full of stupid weirdness that you have to endure when you finally fall asleep inbetween coughing fits.

At least I don't have a sinus infection with this, even though like Grant, my head has become a mucous factory. I credit the good fortune of no sinus infection to my loyal neti pot. I should write an "Ode to the Neti Pot" in another post. Love the thing.

I hate that my work lumps vacation time in with sick time, so all you have is "personal time off". I hate using sick leave when I could be off camping somewhere instead.

And for those still wondering, both my gelatin and ibuprofen allergy tests came back negative. So the other night, when I had such a horrible headache, I took two ibuprofen. The test LIED. Two swollen eyes this time. Ewww. No more ibuprofen for me!

Now I'm going to go back to sleep. I hate being sick.

Those sick dreams are awful. I purposely take Nyquil when I'm sick so I don't dream. Last time I had a sick dream, it took me months to shake it off. Feel better soon!

I don't care how many people tout the handiness of the neti pot, I'm NEVER trying it. EVER. And no one can make me. Just the thought of pouring water up/in/out my nose gives me shivers.

Oh yuck - I hope you feel better soon.

I want to try the Neti pot. I just don't want to buy one. Sick dreams are like drug induced hallucinations. They're the worst.

The thought of using a neti pot used to ick me out, too.

Until I got desperate. 9+ months per year of allergies, plue CONSTANT sinus infections... well, I tried it.

In the year or so I've been using it, I haven't gotten a single sinus infection. And I only have to take allergy meds once in awhile when the pollen count is off the charts.

I got over the ick factor pretty quickly. LOL! I use it in the shower every morning.

Can you use a regular teapot if you don't have a neti pot?

Kidding...feel better soon!

I suppose you could, if you had really big nostrils... either that, or use a funnel. :)

I'm with you... I woke up last night because my nose was running. Not only gross, but alarming...

I am so over winter sickness! I never used to get so much as a runny nose until my toddler started preschool, and this winter has been brutal. Spring can't come fast enough.

I'm writing Haikus today, so here's one for you:

Love my neti pot
All full of saline goodness
Keeping me healthy

I may try the neti thing. Normally I'm okay, but since I never fully recovered from my illness last year I've been very susceptible to everything.

I love my neti pot, too. Once you figure it out it's not so weird.

At least, until someone sees you DOING it. Then it's weird all over again.

Feel better soon!

I love the neti pot! Mostly because my kids look at me like I am some sort of god when i can get the water to come out the other side of my nose. Hours of fun!

Feel better!

One of my old jobs did the same, lump sick/vacation time together. It's two separate things, you shouldn't have to call it a vacation when you're seeping mucous, nor is it personal when you're hacking a lung. It's sick. Feel better soon, I keep hearing wonder about the Neti Pot, I'll have to check it out next time.

I hope you feel better!

And I have a serious love/hate relationship with my Neti pot. It is such an awful experience seeing the *stuff* that comes out of my sinuses. But being able to breathe again is a plus. We are considering counseling.

Wait, you're saying that Mrs Green Jello herself had to take an allergy test to see if she was allergic to herself? Too trippy.

Sorry you're feeling icky. I need to get a neti pot. Thanks for the reminder, I usually only remember when I'm sick and then don't get it since it would take too long to get here and I'd be better by then.

Has being sick interfered with your diet? I started the 500 calorie part today & I'm pretty much starving & I want a pepsi & some ice cream.

I hope you feel better!

Never tried it. Don't plan to. I fear I'd probably wind up swallowing salt water.

Aleta posted a video a long time back of someone using one. Entertaining, but I'd prefer a colonoscopy, I think!

I would love if my employer lumped sick and vacation time together. Last time I was sick, well, I can't remember it. Oh, you are so lucky.

Could never use a Neti pot [having just discovered what it is on your post, I would drown. Sorry you are feeling so awful...I have my fingers crossed [not easy when typing] because I am going to whisper that I have not had any mucus trouble in years and the last time was a new years eve and the family called out Candoc I was so ill. And those dreams ARE hallucinations...awful.

Get better quickly.

I cannot use the Neti pot, tried once, almost drowned. I know what you mean about the dreams though, I think NyQuil dream are even worse, they remind me of the old 80s movies where they tried to show you what an acid trip was like... Am I the only one who had to watch them in school? Anyhow, Feel Better Soon!!

Have you tried Naproxen Sodium (Aleve)? I think it works better than ibuprofen. Be sure to drink a full glass of water with it, though, otherwise it does have a tendency to upset the stomach.

Actually, I find aspirin best of all.
