Dad

My parents decided to go on a bike ride this morning. As they were pedaling along, my dad hit some gravel, and crashed pretty spectacularly.

He broke his temporal bone (skull), his collarbone, and fractured his pelvis in three places.

He'll be going into surgery sometime today to get screws put into his pelvis. My dad is only 67-- that's pretty young to be starting with the hip fractures. :(

Oh no! Your poor dad. That is young for a hip fracture, but hopefully that will work in his favor and he can recover more easily.

Prayers for quick recovery for your dad, patience and strength for your mom in caring for him, and lots of good reading material while he is laid up. Does he like watching the Olympics?....

In a few days I may have reunion stuff for you...

Update: the three hip fractures are actually one long fracture, and because of my dad's low platelet problems, they decided not to do surgery. He'll be in a wheelchair for awhile, and then a specialized walker, and then lots of pool therapy.

Thanks for the prayers. They always seem to come through. :)

I do feel for my mom-- my dad is not a cheerful or patient patient. ;)

Reunion stuff, yay! I'm sorry I missed it...

I don't suppose it would give your dad a giggle to present him with a teeny "Speedo" as a gag before he begins his pool therapy?

And maybe a nice bike horn for his walker..

LOL!

I like your ideas, even if my dad wouldn't... I still may get the bike horn though.
