Meme

Givinya de Elba had an interesting meme on her site. It looked fun, so I thought I'd try it, too!

Ten years ago I:

* was devastated-- my then-husband had been fired from a job he had only had for 2 months.
* realized my marriage was a crock
* saw the beginning of the death of my dreams of being a stay-at-home mom
* was packing to move for like the 12th time
* made the decision to go back to college and get my degree

(Wow... that sure brought up lots of depressing memories!)

Five things on Tomorrow's To-Do List:
* get more stuff listed on Amazon and eBay
* take the girls Christmas shopping
* go to work
* go to the post office before work to ship stuff
* pick up girls from basketball practice

(Yes, I sound like a suburban working mother.)

Five snacks I enjoy:
* cheese and crackers
* fruit
* carrots
* nuts and seeds
* Baby Bel Cheese

(I like to eat cookies, but I wouldn't say I "enjoy" them... I feel too guilty when I eat them!)

Five things I would do if I were a millionaire:
* Pay off my house and cars
* Put money aside for kids' college and future homes
* Invest wisely
* Use proceeds to fund charitable works and travel the world
* Quit my job!!!

(I think I would like to have this problem.)

Five places I have lived:
* Utah, USA
* Washington, USA
* Nevada, USA
* Montana, USA
* New Mexico, USA
* Arizona, USA

(OK, so I cheated and put six.)

Five jobs I've had:
* Stay-at-home mom
* Custom picture framer
* McDonald's peon
* Manager at a call center (basically working for Microsoft)
* Professional computer geek

(Someday, I may go back to college and get my law degree. Maybe. If I'm insane enough to want to go to college again!)

I think you're the first person I've ever met who admits to having worked at McDonald's. How was it?

Normally I fine people a dollar for going over five items in a meme, but I think I'll let a fellow former McDonald's wage slave pass. In fact, I think I'll steal this.

I worked at McDonald's as a teen, and after I got out of high school for a month or two. Then I got a retail job, and that's the last I saw of fast food. (There's nothing like working at McDonald's to cure you from ever wanting to eat their food again!)

I also worked at Dairy Queen as a teen. That wasn't bad at all, actually.

So I guess you can add to the list:

*Assistant manager of a children's clothing store
*Ice cream jockey
*Bookstore nerd
*Avon lady
*Computer store inventory specialist and salesperson

No, I don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Why do you ask?

Ten years ago seems like a lifetime doesn't it? I remember when you were going through all of that. It just goes to show that nothing stays the same, and even the darkest nights end with dawn.

Maybe I'll steal this one for my blog later today. I need a prompt. :-)

It's interesting to see how far you seem to have come in the past 10 years. I hope that when you look back 10 years from now, you'll be able to say once again how much better things are for you.

Joe, I am hopeful of the same!!!

Jennifer, I think it *was* another lifetime ago. That doesn't seem like me 10 years ago. I've changed so much, and my life has changed so much.

It sounds like your life has changed so much! I can totally relate to thinking things only a few years ago was an entire lifetime ago, I can't relate at all to the life I was living 8 years ago. And that's a lot of places to have lived and a lot of jobs to have had!

Whoa!!! I may have to try this, maybe on a weekend, maybe after Christmas, maybe when I get all the stuff done I need to get done..
