Saw this today, and wanted to share. Credit card debt is evil, folks!
I do, however, use my American Express regularly to get the rebate every year (just received a check for over $400 last week). BUT.... I pay it off every single month, without fail.
If you have credit card debt, figure out a plan to climb out of the hole ASAP. Your future financial well-being depends upon it!

I don't do credit cards. I pay hospitals instead. They're even better at absorbing my paycheck, plus I get lots of tasty meds and painful procedures instead of stupid things like TVs and video games.
Ugh. We just consolidated ours into a loan and rid ourselves of the plastic. Seriously. Evil, evil, evil.
before i went to college, my dad beat it into my head not to charge anything unless i could pay it off in full when the statement arrived at the end of the month. i guess the lessons stuck because i've never carried a balance on any credit card.
Yup. I swore, up and down, that I would never pay anything but cash. For years, I kept that promise. Then, my Dad talked me into getting a credit card, just to "establish a good credit record" in case I ever needed it. That was the beginning of the end for me.
I saw how easy it was to have stuff and not have to pay for it - or, at least, that's how it seemed. a few years later, I started piling up debts in earnest. Got to well over $40,000. I am now just about three months from paying it all off after having entered a debt management program. And I will never EVER use a credit card for anything other than what you do - paying it off, completely, each month.
It is an insidious trap. I was right; my Dad, bless his soul, was dead wrong.
I hate credit cards!!!
I love the new law that shows you how long it will take you to pay it off- I find that really motivational.
I usually carry less than $400 on mine, if any. I only have one.
I had TWELVE 8 years ago. Insane....it was a hole, a very big hole I dug myself into...
